Every era thinks its technology is the one that will finally end civilization. Spoiler: it never does. We adapt, we adopt, we argue on whatever the latest communication medium happens to be, cave wall, papyrus, Twitter, and then we invent something new to panic about.

🔥 Fire (~1,000,000 BCE)
"What if hot?"
The original disruptor. One ancestor figured out that friction generates heat, and the species' entire dietary, social, and defensive strategy changed overnight. Critics at the time presumably grunted, "But what about the jobs of raw-meat chewers?"
Lesson: Fire didn't replace humans. It freed them to think, plan, and invent the next thing.

"What if round?"
Somebody, somewhere, looked at a log and had a moment. Suddenly, hauling things wasn't a back injury waiting to happen. Logistics was born. So was traffic.

Someone invents it. Usually by accident, often while trying to solve a smaller problem.
Everyone panics. "This will replace us / corrupt the youth/end civilization."
